    McDaniel celebrates 154th Commencement on Saturday, May 18

    McDaniel College celebrates its 154th Commencement for the Class of 2024 on Saturday, May 18. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

    McDaniel alums recognized for alumni career and service achievement

    Two McDaniel alums received Trustee Alumni Awards, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel, during the Trustee-Faculty Dinner held May 3. The 2024 recipients are James A. Felton III '95, M.S. '98, a national leader and scholar-practitioner in the field of diversity in higher education, and Donald J. Hobart '62, a dedicated and active alumni volunteer who is best known for coordinating informal alumni tailgates at Green Terror home football games.

    McDaniel's annual Academic Symposium showcases the liberal arts in action

    McDaniel's Academic Symposium on Monday, April 29, includes a robust program of innovative and inspiring presentations. Throughout the day, McDaniel students, faculty, and staff showcase their original research, scholarship, and creative achievements. Plus, a keynote lunch features Assistant Professor of Biology Allison Kerwin who received a three-year National Science Foundation grant (advance registration is required).

    First-year student Josiah Yung wins top prize and People's Choice at McDaniel's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge

    Update: First-year student Josiah Yung, Art major with a specialization in Graphic Design and Communication major, who presented Trauma, earned the $5,000 top prize as the first-place winner and $1,000 for People's Choice at McDaniel's 2024 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge.

    Speakers announced for 2024 undergraduate and graduate Commencement ceremonies

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2024 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 18. Undergraduate Commencement speaker is higher education leader Freeman A. Hrabowski III. Graduate coordinator Mona Kerby, the L. Stanley Bowlsbey Endowed Chair at McDaniel, will provide remarks during the graduate ceremony.

    Recent accolades celebrate women's leadership

    McDaniel College has been recognized on the Executive Alliance’s Honor Roll among the colleges and universities in Maryland with the most representation by women on their boards and executive leadership teams. Additionally, McDaniel College President Julia Jasken has been selected by the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland as a recipient of their Distinguished Women Awards.

    Juniors and Seniors at McDaniel inducted into Phi Beta Kappa national honor society

    On March 24, 24 students were inducted into McDaniel College's Delta of Maryland Chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the nation’s oldest academic honor society.

    Family establishes scholarship in memory of Norman "Trey" Alva Armstrong III

    The $25,000 scholarship fund establishes an endowed scholarship in memory of Norman "Trey" Alva Armstrong III, who came to McDaniel in fall 2019 and majored in Business Administration before taking a leave of absence in his senior year due to a recurrence of childhood leukemia. The scholarship will be awarded annually starting in the 2024-25 academic year.

    A group of eight students from McDaniel College accompanied by McDaniel College President Julia Jasken and Matthew Mongiello, assistant professor of Political Science, participated in “Maryland Independent Higher Education Day” in Annapolis, Maryland, on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

    New tradition celebrates the McDaniel community while ushering in the holiday season

    “Out of Darkness: A Celebration of Light” on Wednesday, Nov. 29, combined beloved college traditions with new experiences in honor of the college’s motto “E Tenebris in Lucem Voco” or “I call you out of darkness into light.” The evening was filled with light, education, food, and the sharing of cultural traditions.
